I Came, I Saw, I Partied

…aaaaand we’re back. Sorry for the hold-up, everyone, it was a hell of a party in Vegas and another hell of a recovery from the time difference. (When else do I get to squeeze in 17-hour sleeps?) ♠ Continue reading…

A Most Abbreviated NEMHF & Hair Care by Corpsegrinder

Massachusetts was just graced with the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, which manages to become more and more hardcore-centric every year. This year it made up for a lineup stocked to the gills with fashioncore acts by booking locals Black Pyramid and Doomriders on Friday (I’m pissed that I missed them; they were added to the bill so late in the game!) and an Amon Amarth/Cannibal Corpse header on Saturday, so of course I bought tickets. ♠ Continue reading…

Sink or Swim

After a day of hobbling around work (and S. being such a gentleman about wheeling me to the sports medicine doc), I learned that my amazing bubblegum running shoes are actually hurting my joints. I have to take a few weeks off of the Couch-to-5k program (I actually cried at this, I’m obviously hooked) and get some new kicks with more support. In the meantime, I get… ♠ Continue reading…

What I Wore…Channeling the ‘70s

I am shit at taking photos of myself. Luckily, I have photographer friends, kind enough to come help me out in a pinch. Like Pope Tom, my personal favorite Pope, as well as the only man I know who comes with his own waiver, who stopped by this windy weekend for Chimay and picture time! ♠ Continue reading…

Brutalizing the Carnival

We Bostonians get a special annual treat every spring – the local suburb of Revere, renowned for its ya-doods, sketchy strip clubs, and beach littered with garbage, hosts a spring carnival in the movie theater parking lot. It’s simply…magical. ♠ Continue reading…

Do Couch-To-5K With PositivelyBleak!

The sun is just starting to peek out here in Boston after experiencing some epic weeks of rain, and it’s giving me the itch to get out and move around. I’d heard people talk about the Couch-To-5K plan, but as a smoker, I’d always written off running as “something other people do.” Then I read this testimony: ♠ Continue reading…

Shut Up, Shoe Shopping is Totally Metal

For me, shoe shopping is a little like a manhunt. Sometimes I go it alone, as a meditative experience, and sometimes I hunt in packs, where we combine our individual experience to become an unstoppable force. ♠ Continue reading…

How to Make Friends at a Metal Show

Everybody needs a bestie. Sometimes it’s hard to find new friends, whether you’ve just made a big life change like moving to a new place or have just graduated from college, or even if you just want to meet some new people to shake things up a little. ♠ Continue reading…
