Emily Bleak Takes Las Vegas
A speedy update so you all know I’m not dead yet: Las Vegas is overwhelming and awesome, the view of the big sky and mountains from the Venetian is incredible!
Tonight I’m throwing some of my money away on the casinos and seeing Phantom of the Opera, and tomorrow’s a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon. (I’m a bit acrophobic, so if you hear disembodied screaming, it’s coming from me, up in the sky.) This place is over-the-top as hell, on one stroll through the hotel lobby I passed a veritable herd of brides! Expect a mega photo dump when I get back!

I have never actually been **to** Vegas, but I’ve traveled through it by train. What I remember is that Nevada is basically nothing more than miles of sand and yucca plants (sorry Nevadaians) and then suddenly: BAM there’s lots of buildings and lights, all of which seem to come out of nowhere.
I think that’s part of the effect of the city.
